A landing craft has capsized off the coast near Maldives Ports Limited.
Police stated that the incident was reported at 3:44 pm today, and six people injured in the incident are being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). According to the police, four Maldivians and two foreigners are receiving treatment. Citing IGMH, police added that one foreigner sustained major injuries and is in serious condition.
Regarding the incident, MNDF stated that upon receiving the report, the Malé Area Command, Coast Guard Second Squadron was deployed. Following information that a person was trapped inside when the landing craft capsized, MNDF Coast Guard divers conducted a search and successfully rescued the individual. MNDF did not provide further details about the person.
Update: Police stated that there were 14 people on board the landing craft when the incident occurred, and all of them have been rescued.
