Mohamed Shimal has been appointed to the post of Director General of the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI).
Shimal was appointed to the position following the resignation of the former Director General, Shafiya Naeem.

Having served in various positions at MMRI for over 10 years, Shimal was holding the position of Director at the institute prior to his new appointment. Shimal is someone who has played a leading role in conducting MMRI's research programs.
Following his appointment as Director General, MMRI has extended a very warm welcome to Shimal.
MMRI is an institute specially established to conduct research on marine life, gather information related to fisheries and marine biodiversity, share this information with government agencies and the public, raise public awareness, and build human resources in the field of marine research.
