Shark attack victim brought to Male'

The man injured in a shark attack while fishing off the coast of HDh. Kulhudhuffushi this morning has been brought to Male'.

After receiving treatment at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, he was brought to Male' for further treatment around sunset tonight. Although his right shoulder was dislocated and he sustained major injuries in the shark attack, it is reported that his condition is not serious.

A source who spoke to "Keyolha" news said that the incident occurred around 7:00 am this morning, and the injured person is a 30-year-old Maldivian man. He was attacked by the shark while he was in the water fishing with three other people. The source said the shark attacked him shortly after he entered the water, and he did not have any fish in his hands at the time.

While the public and those active in the fishing industry have been expressing concern over the increase in sharks in Maldivian waters, an MNDF officer who went into the sea near L. Maavah in June last year also passed away due to injuries sustained in a shark attack.
