The second project steering committee meeting of the Maldives RREEF program, funded by the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR) to build a sustainable economy in the Maldives, has been held.

The main objective of this meeting, held with the senior participation of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MoTE) and UNDP Maldives, was to review the current progress of the program and discuss accelerating its implementation. Furthermore, ways to strengthen cooperation among various agencies, align with national priorities, and increase participation for sustainable impact were also explored.

The RREEF program is implemented with the technical expertise of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MoTE), Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI), and BCC. This effort is supported by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These parties work together to sustain the Maldivian environment, find ways to optimally utilize the country's marine resources, and build a sustainable blue economy for the Maldives.
