The National Meteorological Service has forecast that winds will reach 50 mph during squalls, making seas very rough.
A Yellow Alert just issued by the agency states that winds are expected to blow between 25 and 30 mph in the area from K. Atoll to Addu City, with gusts up to 50 mph during squalls, resulting in very rough seas.
As the southwest monsoon intensifies, bringing strong winds, rough seas, and rain especially to the central and southern atolls, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has urged seafarers to be cautious of the weather. MNDF has also advised against traveling while a Yellow Alert is in effect.
