A search operation has commenced for the missing M. Maduvvari Farihi-2 vessel.
According to the vessel's owner, Ibrahim Faisal, three individuals from K. Maafushi went fishing on this diving-specialized vessel after Asr prayers today. Although they stated they would return tonight, there has been no news from them so far.
Ibrahim mentioned that the vessel is not typically used for fishing, but the three men wanted to go on a fishing trip today. He added that the men who went are experienced at sea. The vessel does not have a built-in GPS; instead, they usually use GPS on their phones, Ibrahim said.
"The vessel has all safety equipment. They are strong at sea and can dive as well. But since they didn't go on a diving trip, there won't be diving gear on board right now. They will use GPS from their phones," Ibrahim said.
Farihi-2 is a diving vessel. With seats installed on the sides, it can comfortably carry about twenty people, Ibrahim said. Faisal stated that the Coast Guard has now been informed since there has been no news from them.
"I have informed the Coast Guard. They said it's not yet time to deploy drones," Ibrahim said.
Ibrahim is currently very concerned because he cannot reach any of the three people on the vessel.
"Some people are saying the vessel sank... that they are lost at sea... that's why the phones aren't ringing... I am actually very frustrated right now," Ibrahim said.
So far, Ibrahim has not received any news regarding the vessel from the Coast Guard.
Attention: The missing vessel being searched for was purchased by Maduvvari Ibrahim Faisal from K. Maafushi young businessman Aasim Mohamedfulhu (Simbe). However, the registry has not yet been transferred to Ibrahim's name. Ibrahim informed that this detail was noted when reporting the incident to the Police and MNDF.
