The National Meteorological Centre has urged seafarers to be cautious of the weather due to worsening weather conditions and strong winds in some atolls.
The National Meteorological Centre stated that rain and thunderstorms are expected across various parts of the Maldives. Winds are forecast to blow from the northeast and east at speeds between 13 to 23 miles per hour. According to the centre, seas are also expected to be moderately rough. Wave heights are estimated to be between 4 to 7 feet. Therefore, the centre has appealed to seafarers to remain attentive to the weather.
The National Meteorological Centre has already issued a White Alert from Thaa Atoll to Addu City until 06:00 pm today, forecasting strong winds. The White Alert was issued for these atolls predicting heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusts of up to 40 miles per hour during showers.
