The National Meteorological Service has urged seafarers travelling in the central and northern atolls to pay attention to the weather.
The weather alert issued by the agency today stated that the southwest monsoon has intensified over the Maldives region, bringing rain to a large part of the central and northern atolls over the past 24 hours, with heavy rainfall in some atolls. It is also expected that surface winds will be generally strong and seas will be very rough tonight and tomorrow, especially in the northern and central atolls.
Therefore, the National Meteorological Service has urged all parties, especially seafarers travelling in the central and northern atolls, to stay updated with the latest weather information and pay special attention to necessary safety precautions.
