Rough seas expected in some atolls of the Maldives over the next 5 days: MET

The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast strong winds and rough seas for some atolls across the country over the next five days.

The agency stated that as the Southwest Monsoon is expected to intensify in the Maldives region, strong winds, rough seas, and tidal swells are anticipated in some northern and central atolls over the next five days. Additionally, the Maldives Meteorological Service noted that rain and thunderstorms are likely in some northern and central islands during this period.

Due to the forecast of strong winds and rough seas, the Maldives Meteorological Service has urged seafarers to obtain the latest weather information before embarking on journeys.

The Southwest Monsoon has now commenced across the entire Maldives. While the Southwest Monsoon began in the southern atolls on the 7th of this month, it started in the central islands on the 12th. Furthermore, the Southwest Monsoon commenced in the northern atolls of the Maldives on the 21st of this month.
