An agreement has been reached with a Chinese company to establish a rihaakuru production facility in GDh. Fiyoaree.
The rihaakuru production facility in Fiyoaree is being established under an agreement signed today by the Ministry of Fisheries with China's Dongfang Electric International Corporation to develop and finance fish landing, processing, and storage facilities in the Maldives. Under this agreement signed by Minister Ahmed Shiyam, important fisheries-related projects are scheduled to be carried out in Dh. Maadheli, GDh. Fiyoaree, and Lh. Felivaru.
Accordingly, looking at Fiyoaree, under this agreement, a 3,000-tonne cold storage will be established on the island, along with brine and blast freezing facilities. Additionally, the Ministry of Fisheries stated that a 100-tonne per day processing facility, a fish meal plant, and a rihaakuru production facility are included.
