The registration window for the "Ooredoo Masrace 2025", organized by Ooredoo in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, will close today.
With the fishing tournament planned to be held in two islands this year, the race will take place on the 22nd of next month in K. Huraa and on the 29th in Sh. Funadhoo. While the opportunity to participate in the race was opened on the 17th of this month, the registration deadline will expire tonight at 23:59.
Teams wishing to participate in the fishing race can register online. A team will consist of 12 members, including the captain and manager. A maximum of 16 teams can compete from each region. Ooredoo stated that if more than 16 teams register for the race, the competing teams will be selected through a draw among the registered teams, and unselected teams will receive a full refund.
As for the race prizes, Ooredoo has announced that the champion team from each island will receive MVR 25,000, the runner-up team MVR 10,000, and the third-place team MVR 5,000, in addition to special prizes for the best female and male fishers.
The fishing race, which has been held by Ooredoo since 2009, is the largest fishing event in the Maldives. It is a popular race that has gained the trust of the public, especially reef fishers and recreational fishers. More than just a race, it is an event that fosters a spirit of unity through the joy of fishing and has won a place in the hearts of communities.
