As part of the activities to mark this year's Fishermen's Day, the R. Rasmaadhoo Council has decided to hold a fishing tournament and opened the opportunity to participate.
The council stated that the tournament, held under the name "Ooredoo Masrace", will take place on Friday, 05 December 2025, from 14:00 to 19:30. The fishing tournament will begin at 14:00 on that day, and the race will conclude at 19:30 that night, according to the council. The council also stated that teams arriving at the island after 19:30 will be disqualified.
Participation in the fishing tournament is by filling out the designated form, and the council stated that only those included in the team list submitted with the form will be able to participate in the race. From today until the end of 2 December, forms will be accepted at the council office counter from 09:00 to 13:00 on every official working day, and the council stated that teams submitting forms after the given deadline will not be given the opportunity to participate in the race.
According to the tournament rules formulated by the Rasmaadhoo Council, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams will be selected based on the weight of the fish they weigh in. And the male and female who catch the biggest fish will be selected from those who catch the biggest fish weighing over 05 kilos. The prizes given are cash prizes.
