The 'Rasain' mobile application, specially developed for Maldivian fishermen and seafarers, has been launched.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu launched the application during a special ceremony held in N. Maafaru to inaugurate the MNDF Air Corps.
The newly introduced mobile app, named "Rasain", is an important technological platform for Maldivian fishermen, seagoing vessels, and those engaged in industrial activities benefiting from the Maldivian seas. The app is available on both Android and iOS phones.
The app is designed to include important information required by fishermen and seafarers. As such, the app features a map of the Maldives, weather alerts, and information on areas with fish schools. Additionally, it will display information on locations where fish aggregating devices (FADs) are deployed, areas where fish gather based on other resources, and details on the tides and currents of Maldivian waters. This will help fishermen reduce the expenses incurred in determining good fishing grounds and locating fish schools. The third tab of the app is dedicated as a communication hub, where messages sent by vessels and distress push messages sent by the Coast Guard in emergency situations will be visible in real-time.
MNDF stated that the Rasain app will be a significant advancement in the collaborative efforts between the National Defence Force and Maldivian fishermen to assist in fishing activities and protect and monitor Maldivian fishing waters.
