The Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works has stated that the Ramadan gift has been distributed to 53.5% of households in the Male' region as of last night.
The Ministry said that, in accordance with the pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, out of the cases of canned fish gifted by the government to every household for the blessed month of Ramadan 1447, 35,132 cases of canned fish have been distributed to households in the Greater Male' region as of last night. This accounts for 53.5% of households, including those in Male', Villingili, and Hulhumale'.
The number of registered domestic meters in the Greater Male' region is 65,230. Canned fish is distributed considering each domestic meter as a household. Last night, the highest number of canned fish cases were distributed from the centers established at the Galolhu Stadium. Over 500 cases of canned fish were distributed last night alone from 4 centers at the Galolhu Stadium.
Furthermore, cases of canned fish have now been sent to almost all islands, and the distribution of canned fish cases in the islands will be carried out by the respective island councils, the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works stated.
The distribution of canned fish cases given as a Ramadan gift was commenced jointly by the Ministry and some state-owned enterprises on the night of January 24th. In the Male' region, canned fish cases will be distributed until February 11th, every night except Fridays, from 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm.
