To mark this year's Fishermen's Day, the M. Raiymandhoo Council has decided to hold a fishing competition on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.
The council published the rules of the fishing competition today and opened the opportunity to participate. According to the rules, the opportunity to participate in this fishing competition is open to teams from Raiymandhoo, Maduvvari, Dhiggaru, and Madifushi Private Island in the atoll. The rules state that each team will decide what to do with the fish they catch in the competition.
The prizes for the fishing competition are set as follows: MVR 5,000 for the 1st place team that catches the most fish (by weight), MVR 3,000 for the 2nd place team, and MVR 1,500 for the 3rd place team. A cash prize of MVR 1,000 will also be given to the "King Fisher" (Ras Keyolhu) who catches the heaviest fish.
The council has requested teams wishing to participate in this fishing competition to submit their forms to the Raiymandhoo Council Office or its email info@raiymandhoo.gov.mv before 14:00 on Monday, 07 December 2025.
