The National Meteorological Service has stated that rain is expected in various parts of the northern and central Maldives today.
The MET Office said that heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in some islands of the region. It also predicted that some southern islands will experience showers.
The MET Office forecasts winds from the south and southwest in southern atolls, and from the southwest and west in other areas, at speeds between 5 to 15 miles per hour. However, winds may gust up to approximately 35 miles per hour during squalls, the MET Office said.
Today, seas will be slight to moderate, becoming rough during squalls, with wave heights expected to be between 2 to 5 feet, according to the MET Office.
