The project contractor, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), has stated that the quay wall work included in the AA. Feridhoo harbour development project has been completed.
Sharing the project update, MTCC said that the quay wall work under the agreement is now finished. The company also stated that the footing work required for building the jetty has now begun.
The AA. Feridhoo harbour development project was awarded to MTCC under an agreement on 16 January 2023. The site was mobilized and practical work began on 15 August 2023.
The project was awarded to MTCC for MVR 50.8 million. Under the project, MTCC will dredge a new harbour basin of 23,579 cubic metres, re-dredge the previously dredged lagoon area of 7,848 cubic metres, and dredge a channel of 4,268 cubic metres. Additionally, the company will construct a 47-metre breakwater, a 213-metre quay wall, and a 403-metre revetment. Along with this project, MTCC will also build a ramp, a 12-metre long by 2-metre wide concrete bridge, an 80-metre long by 2-metre wide concrete jetty, 2,481 square metres of harbour pavement, and install navigation and harbour lights.
Looking at the overall project, MTCC has completed 45% of the work so far.
