Quay wall block installation at Finey Harbour progressing rapidly!

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), the project contractor, has stated that a major portion of the quay wall block installation under the HDh. Finey Harbour development project has been completed.

Sharing the latest updates on the project, MTCC stated that the quay wall block installation is currently underway, with 86% of the work completed. MTCC also noted that the deepening of the harbour basin is progressing simultaneously. According to the dedicated website for MTCC project statuses, 26% of the overall project has been completed.

The HDh. Finey Harbour development project was awarded to MTCC on September 9, 2022. This is a project worth a total of MVR 47.26 million.

Scope of works to be carried out by MTCC under this project:

Re-dredging 5,848.05 cubic meters of the previously dredged lagoon

Dredging 35,484.26 cubic meters of the new harbour basin

Dredging 5,848.05 cubic meters of the channel

Construction of a 219.20-meter breakwater

Construction of an 82-meter revetment

Construction of a 25-meter groyne

Construction of a 248-meter quay wall

Construction of a ramp and a 2,198.65 square meter harbour pavement

The project to construct a 248-meter harbour in Finey was awarded to MTCC to be completed within 450 days.

For the residents of HDh. Finey, which has a population of around 600, and for those active in various industries, one of the biggest current challenges is the difficulty in embarking and disembarking. The further development of the currently utilized harbour will bring significant relief to the island's residents and fishermen.
