President Gives Assurance to Complete Ongoing and Planned Fisheries Expansion Projects in Mulaku

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has shared an update with the residents of Meemu Atoll Mulaku regarding the ongoing and planned projects to comprehensively expand fisheries in the island.

He shared this information while speaking at a ceremony held last night to meet the residents of Mulaku, as part of his ongoing tour to the inhabited islands of four atolls.

In his speech, he stated that the island's fisheries sector will see progress with the project to develop a 30-tonne ice plant, the ongoing cold storage establishment project, and the fuel skid work scheduled to begin on the island in January. Furthermore, he gave his assurance that the practical work on the island's eastern jetty will commence before March next year.

The President stated that when he assumed office, the fisheries industry was in a severe slump. However, he highlighted that this administration prioritizes reviving the industry by establishing a sustainable system for disbursing payments owed to fishermen, and by developing infrastructure and resources.
