Practical work begins on Maabaidhoo ice plant project

Practical work on the ice plant and ice storage facility project in L. Maabaidhoo commenced today.

Funded by the Indian High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), a 25-tonne ice plant and a 50-tonne ice storage facility are being established in Maabaidhoo. The practical work for this project was inaugurated during a ceremony held in L. Maabaidhoo as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's ongoing tour of Laamu Atoll to meet with citizens.

Once the ice plant is completed, it will provide significant relief to fishermen in the region. In particular, those engaged in reef fishing in the area will also benefit from this development.

During the President's current tour of Laamu Atoll, work has also commenced on establishing ice plants in L. Maavah and L. Hithadhoo, in addition to Maabaidhoo. Each of these projects will bring numerous conveniences to fishermen in various ways.
