Pole-and-line FAD deployed off Kulhudhuffushi

A Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) specialized for pole-and-line fishing has been deployed off Kulhudhuffushi City.

The Fisheries Ministry stated that the Kulhudhuffushi City pole-and-line FAD was established today, 15.5 miles southeast of the city. The Ministry noted that the FAD number is C09D02.

The Kulhudhuffushi FAD was first established in 2019. The FAD deployed today is a replacement for the previous one. It was deployed in the exact same position as the previous FAD.

During the Fisheries Ministry team's ongoing trip to the north, they are repairing pole-and-line FADs that have been cut or damaged. They are also installing trolling FADs in some islands in the region. So far, in addition to Kulhudhuffushi City, pole-and-line FADs have been established in K. Gaafaru and N. Maafaru, and a trolling FAD has been deployed in Sh. Nalandhoo.
