Payment Released for Fish Sold to MIFCO on Tuesday and Wednesday

The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has released payments for fish sold by fishermen to its facilities last Tuesday and Wednesday.

Over these two days, fishermen weighed 93 metric tonnes of fish at the Felivaru Fisheries Complex (FFC). Additionally, 97 metric tonnes of fish were weighed at the Kooddoo Fisheries Complex (KFFC). This brings the total to 190 metric tonnes of fish. After deducting the bills for services obtained by the fishermen from MIFCO, the company released MVR 2,077,051 (two million, seventy-seven thousand, and fifty-one rufiyaa) to the fishermen. No vessels weighed fish at the Addu Fisheries Complex (AFFC) during these two days.

Tuesday's payment was released yesterday. Wednesday's payment was released today. Currently pending is MVR 1,317,919 (one million, three hundred and seventeen thousand, nine hundred and nineteen rufiyaa) for the 115 metric tonnes of fish sold to MIFCO facilities on Thursday. MIFCO stated that this money will be deposited tomorrow.

As promised by the current government to the fishermen, the government began releasing payments within 48 hours of weighing fish on the 8th of this month. Since that day, MIFCO has been acting accordingly. From the 8th of this month until today, MIFCO has released MVR 12.8 million to fishermen.
