Parliament approves Minister of Fisheries

The People's Majlis has approved the appointment of Ahmed Shiyam as the Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources.

Following the changes brought to the cabinet by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the 14 newly sworn-in ministers were approved during the 14th sitting of the first session of the People's Majlis for the year 2026 held today.

During today's sitting, votes were taken separately to approve the 14 ministers. In the vote, the appointment of Minister of Fisheries Ahmed Shiyam was approved unanimously by the 73 members who participated in the vote. The Majlis also granted approval to the other 13 ministers.

The decision to approve the 14 newly sworn-in ministers was reached with the unanimous consensus of all members who participated in the committee meeting held by the Government Oversight Committee of the People's Majlis to review the matter.
