The state-owned fisheries company (MIFCO) has disbursed 40.3 million Rufiyaa to vessels that sold fish in January.
According to statistics published by MIFCO yesterday, a total of 2,454.34 tonnes of fish were purchased from 236 vessels at various MIFCO facilities and boats last month. After deducting the cost of fuel and ice purchased by the vessels from MIFCO, a total of 40,396,111.60 Rufiyaa was disbursed to the vessels.
The highest quantity of fish weighed to MIFCO last month was skipjack tuna. While 2,301.73 tonnes of fish were weighed from 199 vessels, 36.9 million Rufiyaa was disbursed to these vessels.
Looking at the details of yellowfin tuna purchased by MIFCO last month, 80.45 tonnes of fish weighing over 10 kg were purchased from 168 vessels. A total of 1.6 million Rufiyaa was disbursed for this fish. Furthermore, 72.16 tonnes of fish weighing over 15 kg were purchased from 148 vessels, with a total of 1.8 million Rufiyaa disbursed for this fish.
