The state fisheries company (MIFCO) has disbursed 20.3 million Rufiyaa to vessels that sold fish last February.
According to statistics published by MIFCO today, a total of 1,180.33 tonnes of fish were purchased from 514 vessels at various MIFCO facilities and boats last month. After deducting for oil and ice purchased by the vessels from MIFCO, a total of 20,380,249.00 Rufiyaa was disbursed to the vessels.
The highest quantity of fish weighed to MIFCO last month was skipjack tuna. While 1,052.82 tonnes of fish were weighed from 483 vessels, 17.4 million Rufiyaa was disbursed to those vessels.
Looking at the details of yellowfin tuna purchased by MIFCO last month, 55.16 tonnes of fish over 10 kg were purchased from 212 vessels. A total of 1.1 million Rufiyaa was disbursed for this fish. Furthermore, 72.16 tonnes of fish over 15 kg were purchased from 214 vessels, with a total of 1.8 million Rufiyaa disbursed for this fish.
Compared to January of this year, the amount of fish weighed to MIFCO in February has decreased significantly. In January, a total of 2,454.34 tonnes of fish were weighed to MIFCO from 236 vessels, and a total of 40,396,111.60 Rufiyaa was disbursed for that month.
