The Ministry of Fisheries has opened the opportunity to design the awards presented by the government at the ceremony held to mark Fishermen's Day.
The Ministry opened the opportunity for interested parties to design the award on the 14th of this month. Parties interested in undertaking this work are requested by the Ministry to design the award in accordance with the standards published by the Ministry and submit it to fisheriesmanagement@fisheries.gov.mv before 12:00 on Wednesday, 20 November 2024. The Ministry stated that each party can submit only 1 proposal. Additionally, the Ministry stated that a proposal can also be submitted jointly by more than one party.
The award must be designed in a way that adequately represents this year's Fishermen's Day theme and the fishing industry. The theme for this year's Fishermen's Day is "Youth participation in diversifying the fishing industry". The Ministry stated that in selecting the design, priority will be given to modern and innovative submissions that showcase the traditional pole-and-line fishing sustainably practiced by Maldivians since ancient times, and the importance of diversifying the fishing industry.
The award must be designed independently by the submitting party. The Ministry has decided to award a cash prize of fifteen thousand Rufiyaa to the party that designs the winning design to be used as the award.
The Ministry also opened the opportunity to submit nominations for the Fishermen's Day awards on October 9. The deadline for submitting for the awards is 21 November 2024.

The Ministry has also opened the opportunity to submit artwork for the art exhibition held on the occasion of Fishermen's Day. Parties wishing to submit artwork for this exhibition are requested to complete the relevant form and submit it to the Ministry before 14:00 on Thursday, 21 November 2024.
An art exhibition to be held to mark Fishermen's Day
The government marks Fishermen's Day on December 10 every year. This year will mark the 44th Fishermen's Day. This year, Fishermen's Day is being celebrated in Male' City.
