Opportunity to Participate in the Finey Fishing Competition!

The GDh. Finey Council has opened the opportunity to participate in the fishing competition held to mark Fishermen's Day.

The council requests teams wishing to participate in this fishing competition, scheduled to be held on Friday, December 12, to submit the application form via the designated link before 12:00 on Tuesday, December 09, 2025.

The Finey Council has also published the rules of the fishing competition. According to the rules, the competition is held with the objective of appreciating the hard work of those working in the fishing industry, encouraging them, raising awareness among more youth in Finey about this industry, and strengthening the bonds between each other in the island community. Participation in this competition is open to residents of Finey, individuals married to a person from the island, individuals employed in the island, and individuals whose mother or father belongs to Finey.

The fishing competition is conducted with cash prizes awarded to the winning teams. The winning teams are determined based on the weight of the fish. As such, a cash prize of 5,000 Rufiyaa will be given to the 1st place team that weighs the most kilos, 3,000 Rufiyaa to the 2nd place team, and 2,000 Rufiyaa to the 3rd place team. Additionally, a cash prize of 500 Rufiyaa will be given to the individual who catches the heaviest fish in the competition.
