Opportunity reopened to participate in the Niyami Course planned to be held in Addu City

The opportunity to participate in the "Niyami Course 2" training programme, scheduled to be conducted in Addu City in collaboration with the Maritime Training Institute (MTI) and the Addu City Council, has been reopened.

The City Council reopened the opportunity to participate in this programme because an adequate number of participants did not express interest following the announcement published by the Council in June for registration. Therefore, the Council today cancelled the previous announcement and reopened the opportunity to participate in the Niyami course.

The Council has requested interested parties to Viber their name, ID card number, contact number, and email address to the Council office (Phone number: 7925003) or email the Social Affairs Unit at ss@adducity.gov.mv by Thursday, 31 July 2025. The Council stated that those who had previously registered do not need to resubmit their names to participate in the course.

The "Niyami Course 2" training programme, to be conducted in Addu City in collaboration with MTI and the Addu City Council, is targeted at fishermen, seafarers, and individuals interested in navigating sea vessels for the first time.

The Addu City Council has previously conducted similar training programmes in collaboration with MTI. The Niyami Course-2 being conducted this time is a course that facilitates obtaining the license required to captain Category-B vessels that can travel up to 24 miles outside the atolls of the Maldives.

This course, which will be taught for 30 hours, is designed to teach maritime safety, navigation, watchkeeping, and general vessel information.
