Activities for the 45th Fishermen's Day celebrated this year have officially commenced.
This year's Fishermen's Day is officially celebrated in R. Dhuvaafaru. The Fisheries Ministry, in collaboration with the Dhuvaafaru Council, has planned various programs to celebrate Fishermen's Day from today until the 13th of this month. The official activities for Fishermen's Day began with the "Masveringe Gunzaru" (Fishermen's Forum), a forum dedicated to fishermen. The forum started this morning in Dhuvaafaru and will continue until tomorrow.
Additional activities held to celebrate Fishermen's Day:
1- Food Exhibition: December 11-13. At the travelers' shelter in the harbor area, from 11:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
2- Fishing Race: On December 12. Departure for the fishing race is at 04:00 PM. Return from fishing is at 09:00 PM that night.
3- Children's Evening: December 12 from 04:00 PM to 06:00 PM in the stadium area.
4- Rahavaru Cooking Competition: December 13 from 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM, in the open area east of the Health Center.
5- Fish Filleting Competition: December 13 from 04:30 PM to 05:30 PM, in the area next to the MIB ATM.
The official Fishermen's Day ceremony held by the government will take place on the night of December 13 from 08:00 PM to 11:00 PM, in the open area north of the Dhuvaafaru Council. The President of the Republic will participate in this ceremony. Awards for the most experienced captain, the most dedicated young captain, and the most dedicated reef fisherman will be presented at this ceremony.
More than 200 people, including state ministers, dignitaries, and fishermen from all over the Maldives, will participate in the activities held to celebrate Fishermen's Day.
