Nolhivaranfaru harbour development project awarded to MTCC

The government has awarded the HDh. Nolhivaranfaru harbour development project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The project was awarded to MTCC during a ceremony held last night at Nolhivaranfaru School, where President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the island's residents as part of his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands of South Thiladhunmathi atoll.

While several projects directly related to the development of Nolhivaranfaru were signed at last night's ceremony, the government signed the agreement with MTCC awarding the Nolhivaranfaru harbour expansion project. On behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib signed the agreement. On behalf of MTCC, Managing Director, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Retired) Ahmed Saudhee signed.

Works agreed to be carried out under this project:

• Dredging a harbour area of 64,992.47 cubic meters

• Construction of a 189-meter rock boulder breakwater

• Construction of a 161-meter rock boulder revetment

The project was awarded to MTCC to be completed within 380 days for 44.68 million Rufiyaa.

With the development of the harbour and increased space in the lagoon of Nolhivaranfaru, which has a population of 2000 people, space will be available to moor the island's vessels, speedboats, and dinghies, providing a solution to the difficulties faced in embarking and disembarking at the island.
