New trolling FAD deployed in Haddhunmathi
During this week, trolling FADs have been successfully deployed in three atolls. These include the FAD deployed off L. Fonadhoo today, the FAD deployed off Th. Buruni yesterday, and the FAD deployed off M. Veyvah last Wednesday.
Trolling FADs, established at a distance of between 3 to 6 miles around islands, are specially designed for trolling and sport fishing. The trolling FADs are designed with a light visible from afar and a radar reflector to easily identify the location of the FAD.
The trolling FAD deployment program began last year. Under this program, the work of deploying trolling FADs in various regions of the Maldives was carried out last year as well. With the FAD deployed today, the number of trolling FADs included in the Maldives' FAD network has reached 17.
