New Regulation Established for Maritime Training Centers Effective June 1

A regulation has been established for maritime training centers to follow.

The regulation, formulated and being prepared for implementation by the Transport Ministry, will come into effect starting June 1. The ministry formulated this new regulation with the aim of improving the services of private maritime training centers.

Under this newly introduced regulation, documents required to be submitted to the ministry before starting any course conducted by training centers must be prepared in a specific format determined by the ministry and submitted within the specified period. Also, reports and photos required to be submitted to the ministry upon completion of the course must be submitted within the specified period. Furthermore, if a batch of a course is being conducted, the ministry's permission must be obtained for each individual batch. Additionally, daily class attendance and photos of how the class is proceeding must be submitted to the ministry.

The Transport Ministry has decided to take action against centers that conduct courses in violation of this new regulation and withhold permission for courses conducted by such centers. The Transport Ministry stated that due to these newly brought changes, the quality of courses specifically conducted for the maritime sector will improve, the standard of education and training provided to students will increase, and added importance will be given to safety and security.
