National Registry for Fisheries Management Being Compiled for 'FishMap' Database

The Ministry of Fisheries has commenced work on compiling a national registry for fisheries management required for the Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) 'FishMap' database.

The work on compiling the national registry for fisheries management for the 'FishMap' database is being carried out in collaboration with the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO). Accordingly, a workshop was held from the 8th to the 9th of this month to compile this registry.

Officials from the Ministry and the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI) participated in the technical sessions of this workshop, sharing the information and technical knowledge required to complete the registry.

The Ministry of Fisheries stated that the workshop was concluded very successfully. Furthermore, sincere gratitude was expressed to the BOBP-IGO for their continuous cooperation and assistance.
