The Maldives' National Implementation Roadmap for Ocean Accounts has been launched.
The National Implementation Roadmap for Ocean Accounts, planned for implementation from 2025 to 2030, was launched by the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim. The roadmap was launched yesterday during the "Delivering on the 2030 Sustainable Ocean Economy" meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations Ocean Conference currently underway in Nice, France. The Environment Ministry stated that this meeting was organized on the initiative of the Maldives.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Thoriq stated that this roadmap is formulated in accordance with the commitment made to "advance Ocean Accounts by the year 2030." The Minister also called on donors to maintain and increase the assistance they are providing to implement the Ocean Accounts.
It is believed that this roadmap will pave the way for the sustainable use of the Maldives' marine resources and the advancement of the ocean economy. In addition, the Ministry stated that it is anticipated this roadmap will make it easier to identify the impacts of climate change on the ocean and to take appropriate measures to address them.
