Naalaafushi Harbour Development Project awarded to MTCC

The government has awarded the M. Naalaafushi Harbour Development Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The agreement for this project was signed between the two parties during a ceremony held this evening to meet the residents of M. Naalaafushi, as part of the President's ongoing tour of inhabited islands across four atolls of the Maldives.

Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib signed the agreement on behalf of the government. Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee signed on behalf of MTCC.

Works to be carried out by MTCC under this project:

• Dredging 43,998.60 cubic meters of the harbour basin

• Construction of a 408-meter quay wall

• Construction of a 191-meter breakwater

• Reprofiling 46 meters of the existing breakwater

• Installation of a 78-meter revetment

MTCC was awarded these works for 63.97 million Rufiyaa, to be completed within 400 days.

MTCC states that upon completion of this project initiated for the residents of Naalaafushi, which has a population of 546, the islanders will receive a spacious harbour, bringing significant ease to embarking, disembarking, and loading and unloading goods.
