Mulah Leases Land for Fisheries-Related Businesses

The Mulah Island Council has decided to lease land on the island for fish boiling, drying, and the production and sale of other fish products.

According to the Mulah Council, under the leased land policy, they have decided to lease 4 blocks from the eastern area of the island's harbour, designated for fisheries-related work. The council stated that these 4 plots, each 3,000 square feet, will be leased for a period of 10 years.

The Mulah Council requested interested parties who wish to lease the land under the proposal policy to clarify information and submit their estimates. An information session for interested parties will be held at the council office at 11:00 am next Thursday, and a meeting to submit estimates will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 24, the council said. Any Maldivian citizen over the age of 18, local investments, associations, and parties registered as businesses with the Economic Ministry can submit estimates, according to the council.

The council stated that the minimum rate that can be proposed for the land is 60 laari per square foot. Even if a proposal is submitted at that rate, a positive change must be brought to the proposed price every 2 Gregorian years, and in proposing the price, an increase of not less than five laari every 2 years must be included in the bid, the council said.

The winning parties will be determined after the council's bid committee evaluates the submitted proposals and selects the four parties with the highest points. However, if the highest points tie during the evaluation stage, the four parties to be awarded the land will be determined by a draw, the Mulah Council stated.
