The Addu City Council has opened the opportunity to participate in the Niyami Course scheduled to be conducted in Addu City by the Maritime Training Institute (MTI).
The "Niyami Course 2" training program, to be conducted jointly by the Maritime Training Institute and the Addu City Council, is aimed at seafarers in Addu City, individuals interested in operating sea vessels, and fishermen. The course is designed to ensure that vessel operators hold licenses and operate vessels in accordance with laws and regulations, and to provide the opportunity to complete the Niyami Course while remaining on the island.
The Addu City Council has now opened the opportunity to participate in this training program. Interested individuals are requested to Viber their name, ID card number, contact number, and email address to the council office's phone number: 7925003 by Tuesday, June 10. Participants can also register by emailing the council office's Social Affairs Unit at ss@adducity.gov.mv. The course will be held in the Hithadhoo ward of Addu City.
Niyami Course-2 is a course that facilitates obtaining the license required to captain Category-B vessels that can travel up to 24 miles outside the atolls of the Maldives. The 30-hour course will cover navigation, communication, maritime safety and security, first aid, maritime laws and regulations, and chart works. The course will be taught by MTI instructors.
The Maritime Training Institute (MTI) is currently the fastest-growing training institute in the Maldivian maritime industry. The institute conducts several technical courses required for the development of the maritime sector. Niyami Course-2 is one of these courses. Although MTI's courses are centered in Male' City, they are also conducted targeting the atolls. MTI is currently preparing to conduct Niyami Course-2 in Gadhdhoo, Inguraidhoo, Dhuvaafaru, and Omadhoo, in addition to Addu City.
