The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) gate established by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) in HA. Uligamu has provided services to a foreign yacht for the first time.
The ISPS gate provided services today to a Netherlands yacht named "Stad Amsterdam" which arrived in the Maldives carrying tourists. MPL stated that there were 17 tourists and 29 passengers on board. Regarding this, MPL's CEO Mohamed Wajeeh shared a post on Facebook stating that clearance services were provided to the yacht upon its request. Wajeeh also stated that MPL is prepared to provide full services to yachts, as it is expected that a large number of yachts carrying tourists will travel to the Maldives during this period.
The ISPS gate is a gate established by MPL to provide maritime services to vessels, alongside bunkering services. Opened on September 18 this year, the gate is staffed by employees from MPL, Immigration, Customs, and MNDF. The gate is equipped with a detention room and security screening machines to screen those entering the office.
Services provided through the ISPS gate include pilotage services, crew changes, supplying clean water and food to vessels, changing lube oil, providing docking services for yachts, maintenance services, marine surveillance services, and waste disposal services. A dedicated website under the name Uthuru Maritime Services (UMS) has been launched to clearly outline these services, and MPL has also established a 24-hour call center to respond to service inquiries.
Under the efforts to expand MPL's services in Ihavandhippolhu, work is underway to develop a yacht marina in HA. Uligamu and establish the necessary facilities to provide services to yachts from Uligamu. Preparations are also underway to develop a dockyard in HA. Ihavandhoo.
