The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has decided to launch a special operation due to the increasing number of dangerous incidents at sea.
Announcing this in a message shared on the official MNDF X account, it was stated that the decision to conduct such an operation was made because dangerous incidents at sea are increasing due to vessels being operated without the required driving licenses and without fulfilling maritime safety requirements.
MNDF has decided to conduct this special operation during this month. However, the exact date on which the operation will begin has not yet been announced.
MNDF conducted training exercises in the sea area of Lh. Kanuhuraa from the 27th to the 30th of last month. Additionally, MNDF previously stated that exercises are scheduled to take place from today until the 5th of this month, every day from 06:00 to 17:30, 5 nautical miles off the northeast of Lh. Kanuhuraa. MNDF stated that the bullets used in this training will travel a distance of 45,000 meters starting from 5 nautical miles off the northeast of Lh. Kanuhuraa, and the altitude of the bullets' trajectory will be 500 meters.
MNDF has publicly announced this for the information of the public and vessels traveling through this area.
