The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has appealed to the public to avoid all non-essential sea travel.
MNDF made this appeal as the National Meteorological Centre has forecast bad weather across the entire Maldives for the next five days, and specifically predicted generally strong winds, rain, and rough seas throughout the country.
Appealing to seafarers to pay attention to the weather, MNDF stated that all non-essential sea travel should be avoided, and requested those who must travel to pay special attention to the weather. Furthermore, MNDF appealed to avoid travelling at night, to postpone travel until the weather improves if conditions are unfavorable, and to refrain from travelling when the National Meteorological Centre has issued a Yellow or Orange alert.
