A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI) and Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to collaborate on coral reef restoration and monitoring.
At the signing ceremony held yesterday, State Minister Dr. Amzath Ahmed signed on behalf of MMRI. Managing Director Brigadier General (Retired) Ali Zuhair signed on behalf of HDC.
Under this agreement, MMRI will provide the necessary technical advice and guidance for the coral restoration efforts carried out by HDC. Additionally, HDC will assist in strengthening the monitoring of the Maldives' reefs and related scientific research.
The main objective of this partnership is to restore the biodiversity of the Maldives' reefs and to further strengthen and advance the management and monitoring of reef environments, stated the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture.
