The three people who went fishing yesterday on the Maduvvari Farihi-2 dhoni have been found.
Speaking to Keyolha, the boat's owner Ibrahim Faisal said that the MNDF Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre shared the happy news that the men and the dhoni had been found.
"They just called and said they have been found. They said all three are in good health. Shaheed Ali is currently travelling there. They said they will call later to give more details," Ibrahim said.
MNDF stated a short while ago that the missing dhoni was found through sea and air search efforts using the MNDF Air Corps' military UAV and MNDF Coast Guard vessels. They revealed that the dhoni was found 23 nautical miles off M. Raihmandhoo after suffering engine failure.
Three people set out to fish for reef fish on the Farihi-2 dhoni, which is typically used for diving excursions, at around 4:00 pm yesterday. When they did not return at the stated time and could not be reached by phone, the boat's owner reported it to the police at around 22:06 last night. Upon receiving information about the incident, the M. Atoll Police launch began efforts to find the dhoni and the people, and shared the news with the MNDF Coast Guard.
Upon receiving the news, the MNDF Central Area Command, Coast Guard Third Squadron began efforts to find the dhoni. The "Coast Guard Harbour Craft 114" located in M. Muli began the search at 23:20 last night. Around 2:00 am, the MNDF Air Force also began using a "UAV" drone to search for the dhoni. This afternoon, the operation was further expanded, and the Coast Guard Ship Shaheed Ali also became active.
