Minister Shiyam visits China's largest aquatic products trading center

Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam has visited the Mawei Aquatic Products Trading Center, the largest aquatic products trading center in China.

During his visit to the center today, Minister Shiyam inquired about the aquatic industry, aquatic products, and their trade, experienced their operations, and gathered information on their management system. The Minister was accompanied on this visit by State Minister Mohamed Muthalib and some senior officials of the Ministry.

The Mawei Aquatic Products Trading Center is a specialized hub that connects fishermen, suppliers, and foreign traders to facilitate the trade of various aquatic life products. It is also the main center for distributing seafood within China.

The management system of this center demonstrates a significant potential opportunity to promote and strengthen the Maldives' seafood trade, especially as the country's aquaculture sector expands.
