The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced that it will not purchase fish from fishermen at its fisheries complexes and vessels tomorrow, as it is the Maldives' Independence Day.
MIFCO stated that although fish will not be purchased tomorrow, ice will be issued to fishermen from fisheries complexes and ice plants from 14:00 to 19:00. The company added that arrangements will also be made to sell fuel from the complexes during these hours.
According to MIFCO's fish purchasing policies, fish is not purchased on official public holidays designated by the government to mark various occasions, as well as on Eid holidays. Furthermore, captains who deal with MIFCO are informed in advance as these days approach.
