The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced that it will resume purchasing fish next Saturday following the blessed Eid al-Adha holidays.
The state-owned fisheries company, MIFCO, stated that in connection with the Eid al-Fitr occasion, fish will not be purchased from the company's facilities and boats on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Additionally, ice will not be sold from the company's centers and ice plants.
MIFCO stated that since the Friday following the Eid holidays is a day the company generally does not purchase fish, the company's facilities and ice plants will reopen and resume services on Saturday, the 30th of this month. Furthermore, fish purchasing from boats and facilities will also commence on Saturday.
Generally, MIFCO does not purchase fish on Fridays. In addition, fish purchasing from MIFCO centers is suspended to coincide with major occasions such as Eid. This is usually communicated to the vessels that sell fish to MIFCO and the parties seeking services from the company.
