President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the state fisheries company, MIFCO, has decided to change the size of skipjack tuna eligible for the best price from 1.5 kilos to fish weighing over one kilo, which will be bought at the company's highest rate starting tomorrow.
Announcing this at the official ceremony held by the government in R. Dhuvaafaru to mark the 45th Fishermen's Day, the President said that starting tomorrow, MIFCO will buy fish weighing over one kilo for a minimum of 16 Rufiyaa.
"As a result of the work done so far with MIFCO and the Fisheries Ministry, one of the main changes we are bringing starting today is changing the purchase of fish at the highest rate from one and a half kilos to fish weighing one kilo and above," the President said.
