Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has stated that the project to establish an ice plant in Dh. Meedhoo is expected to be completed by the upcoming Eid al-Adha.
Sharing the progress of the ice plant with "Keyolha", MIFCO's Manager Operations Hamid Nazeem said that all civil works of the ice plant have been completed and the installation of the generator is currently underway. Nazeem also said that looking at the current progress, it is estimated that the ice plant will be installed and the entire project will be completed by the upcoming Eid.
The machinery and equipment required for the ice plant were taken to Meedhoo on the first of this month.
The work of building the Meedhoo ice plant was handed over to MIFCO in September last year. The 8 million Rufiyaa project was handed over to MIFCO to be completed within 8 months from the start of practical work. The Meedhoo ice plant is being developed to produce 30 tonnes of ice per day and store 50 tonnes of ice.
The ice plant is being established on a 3,000 square foot plot of land provided by the council under an agreement signed between the Dh. Meedhoo Council and MIFCO.
