Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has officially introduced its 'Fasmeeru' brand products to neighboring Sri Lanka.
The 'Fasmeeru' brand products were introduced to Sri Lanka today at a special ceremony held in Colombo. The ceremony, attended by senior government officials from both countries, diplomats, and senior figures in the fisheries sector, was graced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The 'Fasmeeru' brand products were officially introduced to Sri Lanka under an exclusive distribution agreement signed with Development Interplan Ceylon Private Limited (DICL). Under this agreement, MIFCO stated that 'Fasmeeru' products will be supplied to Sri Lanka's hotel, restaurant, and catering sector, and will also be introduced to the retail and wholesale markets.
Participants at today's ceremony were given the opportunity to view and experience the 'Fasmeeru' brand products. The Fasmeeru brand products introduced to Sri Lanka by MIFCO include various types of canned tuna, as well as smoked tuna, fish paste (rihaakuru), and packets of crushed smoked tuna.
The ceremony held to introduce MIFCO's fish products in Lanka was attended by the Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam, the Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Masood Imad, and MIFCO's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Anas. Sri Lanka's Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe and the CEO of Development Interplan Ceylon Zuraish Hashim also participated.
MIFCO stated that it is making special efforts to produce high-quality products from sustainable fisheries and expand the company's business in the international market. In this regard, MIFCO noted that the introduction of the 'Fasmeeru' brand to Lanka is an important step towards further expanding Maldivian tuna products into foreign markets and promoting the environmentally friendly fishing practices carried out by the Maldives.
