The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has opened a new outlet at the Male' North Harbour.
The "MIFCO Mas Fihaara" (MIFCO Fish Shop), established in the MPL North Harbour area specifically for businesses, was opened this evening. It was inaugurated by MIFCO's Local Sales Manager, Abdulla Rasheed. The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials and staff of MIFCO, as well as vessel owners.
This newly opened MIFCO fish shop is located in the area where vessels typically dock to seek services from MPL. MIFCO stated that a shop was established in this area specifically for businesses because the highest volume of wholesale fish cases from MIFCO shops is currently purchased by those from the atolls. The arrangement aims to provide a hassle-free and convenient way for vessels arriving from the atolls to purchase cases of canned fish.
"If businesses are buying their usual goods from the market area, and fish cases are also available there, they can buy everything in one go. Actually, the shop previously operated on Rahdhebai Magu was also mainly serving businesses and orders taken to the islands. Therefore, having the shop at this location (the harbour) will be an added convenience. Vessels can buy directly from there and take it to the islands," said MIFCO's General Manager, Local Sales and Marketing, Aishath Riyaza.
The MIFCO fish shop opened today at the North Harbour will be open for business tomorrow morning. The shop will be open for business from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm on all days except Fridays and public holidays. MIFCO stated that customers can use the dedicated hotline number, 7255533, via Viber to place orders, check delivery status, and process payments for their orders. The storage capacity of this newly opened shop is 2,000 fish cases. MIFCO stated that the target is to sell a minimum of 1,000 fish cases per day from this shop.
MIFCO fish shops generally retail a case of fish for MVR 760. For the company's registered customers, a case of fish is sold at a discounted rate of MVR 745. In addition, MIFCO sells fish cases at special prices to those buying in large quantities. As such, if buying more than 50 cases, a case is sold at MVR 740. For those buying more than 1,000 cases, a case is sold at MVR 735.
MIFCO stated that although the MIFCO fish shop (Rahdhebai Magu) previously dedicated to serving businesses has been closed, the North Harbour shop will take orders from shops within Male' and provide free delivery, just as the previous shop did.
