The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has opened its newly established fish processing facility in Fuvahmulah City.
The facility was inaugurated yesterday at a ceremony held at the Fuvahmulah harbor area by the State Minister of the Fisheries Ministry, Mohamed Muthalib. The ceremony was attended by MIFCO's CEO Brigadier General (Rtd) Farhath Shaheer and the company's Strategic Consultant Athif Shakoor. Also in attendance were Fuvahmulah South Constituency MP Ibrahim Hussain, Fuvahmulah City Mayor Ismail Rafeeq, city council members, and local fishermen.
The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has granted permission for the facility, which is established to provide services adhering to the highest health and safety standards. MIFCO stated that with the operationalization of this facility, the people of Fuvahmulah will have the opportunity to safely package fish into reliable products, paving the way to secure desirable profits from fishing.
